Play in the Dirt with VCTX at Blackwood’s Skyfarm at POST Houston
Event Details
The Vassar Club of Texas invites you to play in the dirt with us in Houston. Join us for a morning of volunteering on the rooftop of POST Houston, at nonprofit Blackwood Educational Land Institute’s 1-acre Skyfarm, followed by lunch downstairs at the unique experience that is the POST Market International Food Hall.
Skyfarm, part of 5.5-acre Skylawn, is the only rooftop farm in Houston and the largest rooftop urban farm in Texas. We will learn from their Lead Skyfarmer, August Stubler, and experience their blending of ancestral, indigenous practices with today’s technology. Blackwood’s soil-focused approach to farming and land management embraces the view that healthy soil helps to mitigate the effects of climate change by increasing its capacity for carbon sequestration.
