- 8:45 AM1h 45mPentagon Tour feat. Tucker Hughes '01 (@Vassar)Tucker Hughes ‘01 (Deputy Director for Studies and Analysis at The Joint Staff) invites Vassar students based in Washington, DC for the summer to join him for a free alum-led tour that will be offered on two different days/times: Monday, August 11 from 1:45 - 3:30 PM Wednesday, August 13 from 8:45 AM - 10:30 AM If you are interested in joining one of these tours, please complete the following interest form by Saturday, July 26 at 11:59 PM ET at the absolute latest. Please note that: Only U.S. Citizens can tour the Pentagon per Pentagon policy. Tour participants are required to present a Real ID-compliant form of identification when passing through security on the day of the tour (our alums can help make sure you've got what is needed to get through security if you are selected to join the tour and have questions). Space is limited (6 spots per tour) and selected students will be required to complete an online form that Tucker will send in advance of the event to begin the security clearance process. You will be provided with more details about what you are allowed to bring with you in advance of the tour once your participation is confirmed (in general, large bags/backpacks and cellphones are not allowed). Students should reserve two hours for this event (which includes check-in/security clearance and then a ~75-minute alum-led walking tour) and should only complete this form if they are available to attend and can commit to showing up on time for the tour. Current Vassar students will be given priority consideration, but if space remains members of the Class of 2025 are welcome to join the tour (so please complete this form if you're interested). Tucker is excited to offer this opportunity and we hope you'll consider joining him if it is of interest!

- 12:00 PM1h 30mUSMC Platoon Leaders Class Info SessionLooking to Set Yourself Apart and Get Ahead? Join us for a Virtual Marine Corps Platoon Leaders Class Info Session on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 12:00–1:30 PM (via Zoom). The Platoon Leaders Class (PLC) undergraduate commissioning program allows college students who are currently enrolled full time in any accredited college or university to pursue a commission in the Marine Corps without interrupting academic careers. PLC is the most common path to becoming one of us and all training sessions take place in Quantico, VA. This path has two training options: Two six-week summer training sessions for college freshman and sophomores One ten-week training session for college juniors Training includes academic and field topics. Academic subjects covered include Marine Corps history, leadership, close order drill, weapons handling, and general military subjects such as land navigation, the Uniform Code of Military Justice, interior guard, moral and ethical leadership, and basic combat. PLC candidates need to be physically fit as the physical training is demanding; for example, Officer Candidates in the PLC Seniors course run and hike an average of 250 miles (400 km) or more during a six-week period. Those who opt for the Juniors/Seniors program will find that the divided program is tailored to provide progressive training. The Juniors course is an introduction into the Marine Corps, and allows the candidates to be evaluated and motivated for a possible commission. Physical training, small unit leadership, and basic infantry tactics are addressed, as well as significant academic instruction. PLC Seniors is an advanced course of indoctrination and contains similar physical training, small unit leadership, infantry tactics, and academics; but at a faster rate and with more instructor-induced stress. Those candidates who opt for the combined course cover the same areas of instruction, but it is integrated without the need to reevaluate candidates due to a year-long gap. Ready to Lead the Few and the Proud? Join us for a Virtual Marine Corps Platoon Leaders Class Info Session on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 12:00–1:30 PM (via Zoom).
